I’ve been a big fan of business networking ever since my days of selling Promotional Merchandise…but does it work?
That’s a difficult question to answer definitively, but I believe the answer is a definite “YES”! The mere fact that there are so many networking groups shows that it must be working.
As Photo Digital Art it has taken me in several directions that I hadn’t expected, but not brought me any business…YET!
Previously I’ve done the Breakfast Networking, but as I don’t really like early mornings, this time I’m concentrating on lunch and, where possible, evening events. I’ve now become a published photographer courtesy of Sheila Kelly-Trow of GEM Magazine. Sheila is a regular networker and has introduced me to many new networking opportunities and I’m now one of her part-time photographers.
This week is a busy one; on Wednesday I’ll be going to a networking event hosted by Else Solicitors at the Metro Bar & Grill in Birmingham and maybe will be taking some pictures. Here’s one from last month: -
Then on Thursday I’ll be at the Warwickshire Business Club which meets every month (third Thursday) at the Henley Golf & Country Club. This is one of the groups that I used to visit when I was selling promotional merchandise and is always interesting.
Another of my regular events is the Phoenix Lunch Club which moves around Birmingham each month – I’ve been to Edgbaston Cricket Ground, Duelling Pianos, Pushkar Indian Restaurant, Villa Park, Birmingham Holiday Inn and next week I’ll be at Edgbaston Golf Club. The event is being hosted by Edgbaston Priory Club who stage the AEGON Classic tennis tournament each year, which is a Wimbledon warm up for the women’s tour. The Phoenix Lunch Club is quite a large event, so you need to keep going in order to meet everyone! Here’s a picture from one of the recent events (no prizes for guessing where it was!): -
That’s a potted history of my networking over the last few months, I hope you’ve enjoyed it and maybe I’ll see you at one of the forthcoming events.
