I, like many people, have been completely captivated by the first series (hopefully there’ll be more) of “Peaky Blinders” set here in Birmingham. I discovered it was coming via Twitter and saw/read several interviews with Steven Knight and Cillian Murphy which served as ideal tasters before the main event. One bit that I remember well is about how Steven Knight took Cillian Murphy to The Garrison pub to introduce him to the Brummie accent. The Garrison is a pub I know well, but have never set foot inside! It is fairly close to where I used to work in Bordesley Green and I drove past it most days an the way to/from work.
When the series started, The Garrison was quickly established as one of the headquarters of the Peaky Blinders and played a major role throughout the series. Obviously they didn’t use the real pub, I assume they created it on a film set, but nevertheless I thought I’d take a photo of the actual Garrison to see how it looks almost 100 years after the events in “Peaky Blinders”.
Normally when I produce my Photo Digital Art pictures I like to have a blue sky with fluffy white clouds, but in keeping with the atmosphere of “Peaky Blinders” I felt that a dark, brooding sky was more appropriate.
