I have wanted to expand my Photo Digital Art and capture some images of the seaside, but Birmingham is about as far away from the coast as you can get in England, so I’ve never really found the time to do it. However, as my father now lives in Norwich, I had the chance to pop over to Cromer and take these pictures early in the evening on Christmas Eve. Although the sun sets in the west and Cromer faces east, the sky was still quite spectacular. A good history of Cromer Pier can be found here on The-Pier website.
When I came to process this image, the sky came up quite Turneresque, which was both unexpected and quite welcome.
From the other side the sky is even more colourful. Also, one of the ships anchored just off Cromer is visible.
From the Promenade, above, the sky again looks beautiful with a lone seagull wheeling over the pier. Another ship is anchored, no doubt awaiting the festive celebrations to begin.
On Christmas Eve, the sea was quite calm and the tide was going out, but further along there were signs of damage to the sea wall caused by the storm surge a few weeks previously. After chatting to a fellow photographer on the beach (nice to see I wasn’t the only mad man out on the beach on Christmas Eve) I retired to the nearest chippy for some Haddock & Chips – the English seaside at its best!
